BRUCE, Miss. (WCBI) — One Northeast Mississippi ministry is making it possible for disabled individuals to enjoy the outdoors.

Hope Outdoors hosted its first ever fishing rodeo for people of all ages with different types of disabilities from wheelchair bound, cancer survivors and even wounded warriors.

Guests enjoyed a day of fishing using crickets and worms in hopes to catch the biggest fish in the pond.

One participant says this event opened opportunities for her whole family to fish.

“I have a disabled son as well and just seeing his face out here and letting him do something that all the other children have always done that hasn’t done and if it weren;t for this ministry he wouldn’t be out here,” says Melinda Moore.
