Video: Dog Thefts Across Winston County-Just A Rumor

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-Stories of dog thefts have been popping up across Winston County but the Winston County Sheriff’s Department says those are just rumors. The Winston County Sheriff’s Department says they started receiving several emails expressing concern over the stories. Reports, predominately on Facebook, said that traveling salesmen who went to private homes selling frozen meat were actually checking for dogs and then would later return to the home and steal the animals. Rumors spread that a pair of individuals in a van were stealing dogs for research facilities and dog fighting rings. But after investigating the rumors the Winston County Sheriffs Department says they found no evidence that any traveling salesmen are involved with theft of pets across the area.
