Video: Early Morning Fire Leaves 1 Injured

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss (WCBI) — A Lowndes County resident is injured in an early morning house fire.

Fire Coordinator Sammy Fondren says at about 6 a.m. today, volunteer firefighters were called to a home on Westbrook Road in far northeastern Lowndes County off Highway 12.

One person was at the home at the time of the incident, but managed to escape. The victim was taken to Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle.

Meanwhile, the 2-story home was heavily damaged by smoke and water.

Fondren says the blaze began in the attic, but an exact cause remains under investigation.
