EUPORA, Miss. (WCBI) – After being on the job for just about a month, it appears that Eupora Mayor Dan Burchfield has his plate full.

With the tight three man race in June now over, he wants to take Webster County town to the next level.

When it comes to pushing this town further, all systems are go and its full throttle ahead now that a veteran alderman and retired educator is at the helm.

“We are looking forward to so many good things. Not so much because I have been elected mayor, but because so many people in this town know that we have the potential to do some very good things. And things hopefully are starting to come together,” said Burchfield.

“I know he would be able to because he is wanting to. ‘Cause I’ve talked to him and he is enthusiastic about everything he has been doing,” said Mary White, Eupora Businesswoman.

Having been a leader in economic development for the city of Eupora already, Burchfield is hoping to build on that experience as he shares his vision with his colleagues.

In terms of municipal vision, Burchfield has developed a three item agenda for success.

“Job creation. We want to look at water infrastructure improvement, and street paving,” said Burchfield.

“Oh I’m just expecting for him to do a good job and get some jobs in here,” said White.

“We’ve basically have several very active prospects looking at Eupora, and not just Eupora, but also Webster county and Mathiston,” said Burchfield.

Eupora mayor and board of aldermen are expected to be attending the upcoming Mississippi Municipal League Conference in Biloxi and will become certified elected officials.
