TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — There was a burger for every taste bud  in downtown Tupelo.

The first “Bud and Burger” competition took place. It pitted professional chefs against each other. There were burgers with coffee and a donut for a bun, and a burger made from high end ground brisket.

There was also a category for backyard chefs, and they turned out old fashioned burgers, along with a burger with blue cheese.

One of the judges says there are no limits when it comes to the burger.

“Absolutely not, the culinary world has been completely pushing the limits for the past two years, actually for the past five years, so I am ready to see some sweet and savory, I think that’s the hot thing right now, I’m ready to see lots of spice people are playing around with lots of different spices so I think it’s going to be very creative and I’ve seen some amazing stuff already,” said Linkie Marais, a celebrity chef, who judged the burger competition.

Marais was a finalist in 2012’s “Food Network Star”. She worked for Ole Miss before she was featured on the Food Network.
