CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI)-One man is dead after an explosion in Clay County Tuesday night.

60 year old Ralph “Bubba” Elliot, a Clay County native died last night after sustaining fatal injuries at his Clay County home.

The Investigation shows Ralph was using improvised fireworks when it exploded.

Ralph was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff Eddie Scott says Ralph was known for his love of fireworks.

“Ralph was a kid at heart. I had known in the past where he would shoot fireworks and stuff, but had never known anything of him being injured or doing anything illegal concerning that, but again when you start improvising fireworks potential something can happen as it did in this case. Ralph was a fun guy he was the kind of guy he’d give you the shirt off his back. He was always available anytime there was any type of trouble in the community he would be one of the first ones there to offer any assistance that he could give. He is going to be one that is going to be really missed,” says Sheriff Eddie Scott.

Ralph was the owner of Elliot Trucking that leased trucks to FedEx. Ralph leaves behind a wife, two children, and grandkids.
