COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) -Turn a blind eye or enforce the law. That could be the next stand off for organizers of the annual Juneteenth Festival in Columbus.

After the City Council voted this week not to allow beer sales in Sim Scott Park.

The festival said it would move sales to an adjacent lot, where sales were handled up until the law changed six years ago.

But the city also hasn’t approved alcohol consumption in the park for the festival.

And council members say they aren’t inclined to do so.

That could leave an under staffed police department in the middle.

Neither side could tell us this afternoon how they would proceed.
