STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-A popular building in Starkville has cancelled future events due to an early morning fire.

Emergency responders received a call around 2am Saturday morning when a passerby noticed smoke coming from the Starkville Shrine Club located at 1769 Louisville Street. When the Starkville Fire Department arrived on scene the building was surrounded with flames and heavy smoke. No one was in the building at the time of the fire. The President of the club says they hope to have the building back in order for future events.

“We have functions right now that are scheduled through 2015. If we can get the building repairs and get a time frame for that we will continue to have the function,” says Charles Avant.

The Starkville Fire Department is still investigating the cause of the fire.
