COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) Competitive fishers threw their line in the water for a good cause today at the Columbus Marina.

Snider’s Bait and Tackle hosted the event. Two thousand five hundred dollars was awarded to the fisherman who caught the largest bass. Many returning competitors entered the tournament along with several new faces.

All proceeds went to the Palmer Home for Children.
“People enjoy it. Of course, everybody is competitive, especially these bass tournaments. There’s a lot of rivalry and stuff but it’s a fun time,” said sponsor Bill Laessig.

The bass tournament is an annual event.
