Four Now Charged in Cochran Photo Probe

MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Four people have now been charged in case of photos being taken of U.S. Senator Thad Cochran’s bedridden wife in a nursing home.

Clayton Kelly, the first to be arrested, along with Attorney Mark Mayfield, a vice chairman of the Mississippi Tea Party, and Richard Sager made court appearances today in Madison.

Kelly was given an additional charge of conspiracy, along with two others he faces.

John Mary was also charged in the investigation. It’s unclear if he’s been arrested.

Kelly is accused of taking pictures of Rose Cochran on Easter Sunday without her permission. Prosecutors say it was his third attempt.

Cochran’s Republican primary opponent and Tea Party backed candidate, state Senator Chris McDaniel, released a statement today saying anyone involved in the crime “should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
