TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Fulbright scholar is encouraging kids to work hard, have faith and overcome obstacles.

Rainesha Miller spoke today at the Northside Boys and Girls Club in Tupelo.

Raised by a single parent, the Birmingham native says her mother supporter her dreams and goals while showing her the value of hard work and sacrifice.

After graduating college, Miller traveled to Indonesia and taught English as part of the Fulbright program.

“We all have fear, we all have some self doubt, but don’t let that stop you from doing deep down in your heart what you want to do,” Miller said. “I’ve been afraid, every step of the way. I’ve doubted myself every step of the way, but here I am today. I did not let that fear, or self doubt stop me from doing from my mother believed I could do at first.”

Miller plans to enroll in a counseling-psychology PHD graduate program next fall.
