COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – It may look like fun and games, but there is some serious learning going on in the Teen Lounge of the Columbus Lowndes Public Library.

“Minecraft in the Library” is a new after school program aimed at kids 10 to 18 years old.

It uses the popular computer game “Minecraft” to help students build Science, Technology, and Math skills. It also allows the kids to get in touch with their creative sides.

” A computer game that randomly generates worlds. Basically, the teens can build their own environment. They can build homes. They have to figure out how to survive. It really incorporates science and technology.”

“Minecraft in the Library” runs Tuesday afternoons at 3:30 through May 5th.
