TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -Nearly 400 educators are learning how to better prepare students to get their GED.

The “Adult Basic Education” Conference began Monday at the Bancorpsouth Conference Center in Tupelo.

Folks from 15 community colleges and 9 school districts are there.

Organizers say the event provides valuable resources, especially with recent changes to the GED.

“Our teachers are learning a new process, it’s based on Common Core curriculum and they are really trying to re educate themselves to help our students pass the test. There’s a lot of different skills that are being tested on the GED and it’s all computer based so they have to become computer savvy as well.”

The conference wraps up Wednesday.
