GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Coffee. For many of us we can’t get through the day without it but how do you decide which cup of Joe is the best?

To help you out, Mississippi Magazine has published the five best coffee shops in the state.

Mochas, lattes and espressos are helping Mississippians get their caffeine fix in this growing industry.

929 Coffee Shop in Starkville is now ranked as the second best coffee shop in the state, according to Mississippi Magazine.

“It’s been really exciting to see this community starting to support us more and to get listed within the Mississippi Magazine is just a great honor,” says Chad Barasch.

929 coffee house has only been open a little more than a year. Manager, Chad Barasch says they strive to provide a unique experience for each customer with their pour over coffee bar.

“Control all the variables within the coffee making process from the temperature of our water to the pace the water is going through the grounds to the volume of coffee that’s eventually produced and because of this we can really experience all the incredible nuance of coffee,” says Barasch.

Customer Wilson West says the coffee shop brings diversity to Starkville.

“It’s just a really neat atmosphere and also just really like the stuff they make,” says Wilson West.

“Did you now that they are second best coffee shop in Mississippi in the Mississippi Magazine?”

“I did not. I did not actually but not surprised. I’m sure they’ll keep moving up and become the best one,” says West.

Beans and Cream manager, Ray Hightower says the taking third place in the state is pretty exciting.

“Feels pretty good. We’ve really prided ourself on customer service all these years so I guess that’s kind of paying off,” says Ray Hightower.

The Columbus coffee shop manager says the quality of the coffee is just as important as the quality of the service.

“Make sure to keep it personal and always remember that your customers are more than just that if you want repeat business you’ve got to treat them right when they walk through the door,” says Hightower.

Cups of Espresso in Jackson took first place and Strange Brew in Starkville took fifth.
