COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–People making New Years resolutions usually fall short of keeping them by mid January.

Lowndes County Supervisors are resolving to make improvements in 2016.

After a brief election of officers, approving last year’s board minutes and making personnel appointments Lowndes County supervisors got down to business. At the top of their to do list…..more economic development which includes employment for the people they serve.

“Well what we’d like to do is we would like to create more jobs for the folks that live in the county. Not just Lowndes County, but the Golden Triangle,” said Harry Sanders/Lowndes County Supervisor President.

The Link, a driving economic force working in a three county area has been steering companies to North Mississippi. Not being specific, supervisors are expecting to be even more aggressive this year.

“We’ve got a lot of things on our plate that we are working on and we just want some of them to come to fruition,” said Harry Sanders.

Keeping their resolve and making sure they do not fall off the economic wagon are initiatives for 2016. There are also plans in place that calls for not losing companies that have already been calling North Mississippi their home.

“Would like to continue doing what we’ve been doing. I think we’ve been doing a good job, but we’d like to do it a little better,” said Harry Sanders.

Working with The Link, there was the successful opening of the Yokohama Tire Plant in West Point.
