Video: Golden Triangle FireFighters Train Underwater
COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Some Golden Triangle fire fighters train for underwater rescue. Starkville, Columbus and West Point Fire Fighters went through a series of swim tests at the Mississippi University for Women’s Pool. Each local hero had to complete five different tests including: a 300 yard free swim, a 100 yard victim tow and 15 minutes of treading water.
One fireman says these tests prove a fire fighter’s job is more than putting out fires.
“If there is a disaster, a flood, or whatever, they will be sent out to do swift water rescues so they have to pass this to get into swift water tech class,” says Kevin Brown.
Once the firemen pass tech class, they will become Swift Water Technicians for the state of Mississippi.
