JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Governor Phil Bryant called a rare special session while the current legislative session continues. Three issues are on the governor’s agenda, including additional assistant district attorneys, funding for the Mississippi Department of Transportation, and Office of State Aid Road Construction. The Legislature has adjourned for the session.

In other legislative news, Governor Bryant signed legislation removing the state sales tax on guns, ammunition, and other hunting supplies during the first weekend of September. This so-called “Second Amendment Weekend” will be September fifth through seventh. State Representative Jeff Smith says the state stands to lose $375, 000.00 in revenue.
