JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI) — Governor Phil Bryant says he will sign a bill that adds more regulations to abortion in the state. House Bill 1400 would ban abortion after 20 weeks of gestation. That is the halfway mark of full-term. Both chambers passed the legislation that does include certain exceptions. If the pregnant woman’s life is in danger, or if there are several fetal abnormalities detected, an abortion would be allowed.

Mississippi’s only abortion clinic says it stops doing abortions after 16 weeks’ gestation. Several states have a 20-week ban, including Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas.
