Columbus, Miss. (WCBI) — Rising juniors and seniors from the Mississippi Governor’s School paid WCBI a visit today.

The school was formed at the Mississippi University for Women in 1981.

The school gives students a chance to gain new academic, creative, and leadership experiences.

“It’s just a common thing that’ll stay in the back of your mind that you did that lets you know to push forward, and to go forth with your dreams.”, says Governor’s School student from Yazoo County Justin Cowling.

A selection committee from both the Governor’s School and M.U.W. chooses from students who applied based on criteria like academic achievements and leadership potential.

The Governor’s School runs from May 31st to June 19th.
