Video: Ground is Broken on New Tupelo Police Complex

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) -It’s been a decade in the making for the Tupelo Police Department, but Monday officials got to see  their hard work pay off.

A big crowd came together to celebrate the ground breaking of the new Tupelo Police Department.

Construction starts Tuesday on the facility, which will cost around 8 million dollars.

Right now, police are housed in 3 different locations, which are all suffering from several major building leaks.

City leaders say this day is a long time coming and marks the beginning of a new era for the city.

“Been working on this case since 2006 and seeing the in’s and out’s the up’s and down’s, for this finally to come to fruition, it means so much to us.”

The building should be complete by August of next year.
