ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI)-Thirteen year old Markell Jackson has seen his share of hard times in his short life. After suffering 13 seizures, Markell can no longer speak and knows very limited sign language. When his sister collapsed Monday morning at their home in Aberdeen, Markell had to get help the only way he could. He rushed to a neighbors house to let her know about the situation.

“I was out watering my flowers and Markell always comes over and helps me out doing things and he came to the house and he was saying something to me,” said neighbor Linda Love.

Linda didn’t understand Markell’s message and sent him home. But the determined teen wouldn’t relent. He returned to Linda’s house with three year old Kaden Jackson, to help relay his story.

“When you do charades, he kept on motioning, doing little things and laying out like ‘she’s on the floor’ and he even went so far as to bring a phone to me and hit the numbers. He was indicating that he would like me to call 911.”

With the help of young Kaden, Linda understood that someone was in trouble and she quickly called for help. Markell’s mother,Cheryl McBride, has seen the special bond her son and daughter share. She can rest a little easier knowing Markell will care for his family, especially in times of trouble.

“He’s just crazy about her. He loves his brothers and sisters. If anything happens to them he panics.”

Markells love extended beyond his family. Linda enjoys Markells help when she’s gardening and considers him her “special friend”.

“We bonded, and he helps me and I help him. We’re just friends and I just love him and he loves me.”

Markell is treated for his condition twice a month at a children’s hospital, but thanks to support from his family and friend, his spirits remain high. Markell’s sister Ebony has made a full recovery after her collapse yesterday.
