Video: Heritage Academic Boot Camp In Session

Columbus, Miss.[WCBI]-Although its Summer, some kindergarten students from Heritage Academy in Columbus are enjoying boot camp.

The camp is exposing the students who’ll be entering first grade to art, science, english, and sports in a fun way. They have had one week of Summer Science Discovery with representatives from MUW where surrounding school children attended. In one class the children are learning about sea stars…..you and I once called them star fish.

“They can stick on to rocks and they don’t have any eyes,” said Jake Sasser/Heritage Academy Student.

“They’ve been playing and kind of forget some of the things that we’ve done such as adding and subtracting and some of their sight words. This is just a good way for them to remember what they’ve been taught this past year,” said Allyson Amos/Boot Camp Teacher.

With the academic boot camp, the rising first graders should get a good jump start on the coming year.
