COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – They may give you a feeling of nostalgia, a longing for the old days, or just excitement of searching for something to make new again. You can always find a little of everything at an antique shop. Burns Bottom Antiques is one “Hidden Treasure” in downtown Columbus.

Your eyes wander in amazement as soon as you step foot inside Burns Bottom Antiques. Shelves are full and walls are covered with colorful antiques in Vic Langley’s shop on Second Street North in Columbus. He’s been collecting one of a kind pieces his whole life.

“I bought the building just to put my stuff in, and then after I got somewhere to put it all, it kept growing and growing and growing,” Langley said.

What makes Burns Bottom Antiques so unique, are all the one of a kind signs. As you walk by, it’s hard not to want to stop and look.

Langley says his collection started with signs and old advertisements. Now he travels across the state, visiting auctions, flea markets and other stores to find more. It’s a hobby, his passion and almost an addiction.

“It’s about the find. It’s not about getting rid of it, it’s about finding it and you get a little thrill out of it,” said Langley.

The store has been open for about a year and a half now. It brings in tourists, locals, and other collectors.

“I like the feeling of it, it’s nostalgic when you pull up out front. Things are here you remember from when you were a kid,” said collector, Melanie Phillips.

“I like that I can get something that nobody else has. I can find something that I can take and make it personal and put it in my home,” said Julie Carpenter.

With a large inventory, it’s hard for Langley to pick favorites.

“The 1927 barber pole and the barber chair. There are a lot of favorites, I collect a lot of things,” said Langley.

Burns Bottom Antiques is open on Saturdays or by appointment. Call (662) 549-5666 or visit their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Burns-Bottom-Antiques for more information.
