WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – What started as a small business out of one Lowndes County woman’s kitchen,  has grown to a demand for her fresh baked cheesecakes in all 50 states.

Jubilations Cheesecakes and Coffee House offers all flavors of cheesecake.

“From white chocolate to Mississippi mud, southern caramel praline pecan, strawberry shortcake, red velvet, and our number one seller and Tammy’s original, cheesecake supreme,” said owner George Purnell.

“I don’t even know how many flavors there are, we have a running tally of 12 to 15 favorites. But there are so many more we’ve made in the past and people will ask for that we’ll make upon request. If we don’t have a recipe for it, we’ll make it; we’ll get you the cheesecake you want,” said chef and manager Heather Blaylock.

The cheesecakes are all from Tammy Craddock’s original, secret recipes. Craddock started Jubilations Cheesecakes about 30 years ago in Columbus. She’s now retired and her business partner, Purnell, runs the operation in its new West Point location. Jubilations Cheesecakes have been enjoyed all over the country, and even recognized in Southern Living Magazine.

A unique feature at Jubilations is the window looking into the kitchen. It gives customers an inside look at the process of baking their favorite treats.

“It’s a two day process. We make the crust and then we fill in with the batter and bake them, cool them and freeze them overnight. Then the next day, we de-pan them, top them and box them. It’s not a quick thing, it’s just like if you’d make a cheesecake in your home,” Blaylock said.

The cheesecakes can be ordered and sold through fundraising efforts as well. During the busy holiday season they’ll make as many as 600 a day. Now Jubilations has expanded its menu to include biscuits, muffins, scones, brownies and sausage balls all sold in the gourmet coffee shop.

“I always tell people it’s never too early in the day to have a piece of cheesecake. Come in for breakfast and get a slice of cheesecake and come back in the afternoon for dessert,” said Blaylock.

“We believe every day is a gift from God and it should be celebrated with jubilation. And we hope the customers will leave here a little happier than they were when they came in,” Purnell said.

Jubilations Cheesecakes and Coffee House is located in West Point on Highway 45 Alternate North. They are open Monday through Friday 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A lunch menu will be offered soon as well.
