STARKVILLE, Miss. – (WCBI) Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann says he hopes others will see the wisdom of an expanded early voting period like those used in other states like Tennessee.

A study commissioned by Hosemann recommended the revamped early voting period this year. The Legislature didn’t address the issue but Hosemann hopes that after this year’s elections, state lawmakers will look seriously had some improvements.

“I think partisan politics is here to stay in Mississippi, whether I wanted it or not. I think it’s a healthy thing to have Democratic primaries and Republican primaries. That leads the electorate to having two choices at the end or independent. I think that’s a good thing,” says Hosemann.

Hosemann also wants some form of online voter registration. He was in Starkville Thursday for the Cotton Mill Retail Development opening.
