PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) – Students throughout the Pontotoc School District are helping men and women who serve this country overseas.

The entire district is collecting essentials such as toothpaste, deodorant, and halloween candy for a project called “Huddle Up For Heroes.”

It all started with an 11 year old Christopher Edwards, who is making a cross country journey, collecting supplies for service men and women.

“This one I guess you could say fell into our lap. it was easy and for a wonderful cause to help an 11 year old and all I could think of was that movie “Pay It Forward” I thought we could do this, we can pay it forward with Christopher, I made a flyer, sent it out district wide and got our entire school district involved, ” said Tami Walls, teacher.

Christopher will be in Pontotoc Wednesday (Oct. 31) to collect goodies donated by students.
