COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–The 49th annual country bake sale to preserve the historic S. D. Lee Home is held in Columbus.

Some of the made-from-scratch cakes, cookies, pies, candies, rolls, breads, cheese straws, jellies and relishes from some of the area’s best cooks will grace Thanksgiving tables throughout the Golden Triangle.

As 10 a.m. drew near, donating customers then lined up for admittance according to numbers picked up earlier in the day. Once Columbus Mayor Robert Smith rang the traditional bell, there was a mad dash to make purchases of some of the most delicious baked goods.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, The Lee Home is where citizens came to after picking up a number and preview sale items. With so many good cooks, there were tasty finds to be had throughout the two hour sale. A drawing was also held for a seasonal centerpiece.
