TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A local independent filmmaker is seeing his hard work and dedication pay off tonight.

It’s been more than one year in the making and Glenn Payne is ready to premier his indie, sci-fi film, “Earthrise”.

A crowd filled the Tupelo Malco theater to watch the film, which is based on humans returning to earth from Mars as it entails their journey.

The movie was crowd funded and Payne says he is excited to share the film.

“To have the premier and to have people come to watch your film, it’s really an amazing feeling and experience. It’s nerve racking because you put so much into and it everything about yourself is there on the screen literally for everybody to see and pick apart but that’s why you do it. You want to share your message, whatever that might be. So whether people love it or hate it, as long as they have an opinion on it, that’s what’s beautiful about the process is that we all get to have our own thoughts about the film,” said Payne, the director of “Earthrise”.

Payne has plans for his next film already and will possibly begin filming in the fall.
