STARKVILLE, Miss.(WCBI)–This week on the Mississippi State University Campus in Starkville, job interview technique seminars were held. MSU also joins other major institutions of higher learning at BancorpSouth in Tupelo today [Thursday] for a huge conference. These Seminars are giving good interviewing techniques.

These conference goers are learning that whatever career path taken by potential employees, preparation is necessary when it comes to being successful during a job interview.

“Practice answering questions with a friend or a colleague and do that over and over so you get use to coordinating your thoughts. And being able to present those and articulate those in an understandable manner. Thats really very helpful,” said Scott Maynard/MSU Career Center.

And it would be terrible to blow a job interview just because of the attire one chooses to wear.

“Gentlemen in a conservative suit coat and tie. Young ladies the same thing. In a conservative suit hair, makeup, just natural plain,” said Scott Maynard.

When it comes to landing that sought after job position, be mindful of the competition, so be sure to perfect your skill set in advance for the specific job desired.

“Find a way to gain experience in their field of study prior to graduation. That may be an internship or coop job, or summer job. Or even volunteer experience,” said Scott Maynard.

So keep in mind, a resume and cover letter are not the only things needed for a successful interview.
