COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A unique walking track opened in Columbus Wednesday morning. Local artist, Bill Moss, painted this maze-like design behind Franklin Academy.

A grant from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation paid for the track. Passport to Wellness partnered with the school to make the project possible.

Now, people will have an outdoor opportunity to exercise their bodies and their minds.

“This is open for the whole community. We’re hoping that everyone will want to come out and just check it out, walk around. We want to increase our physical activity in the community and we are hoping that this will be a big part of it.”

“It’s meant to be a meditation type thing where you focus on where you’re going because of all the many turns and turns and turns.”

During the school year, residents should schedule their walks before or after school hours.
