Video: Late Afternoon Fire Damages Okolona Furniture Factory

OKOLONA, Miss. (WCBI) — Chickasaw County firefighters are investigating a blaze that damaged a furniture plant late Monday afternoon. Employees at United Furniture in Okolona tell WCBI that the fire started sometime after 4:00PM in the ploy room. They were not sure about what started the fire, but believe that it was electrical. Workers are still trying to assess the extent of the damage.

“It appears that the big part of the warehouse is OK,” said United’s Doug Hanby. “Offices are OK. We got all the important parts out of the offices, but it seems to be limited to the production area, and the foam cutting, fiber cutting area.”

Hanby says employees should report to work as usual.
