Video: Lawsuit Claims New Details in Alleged Baldwyn Police Beating

BALDWYN, Miss. (WCBI) — A federal court lawsuit makes new claims and details against a former Baldwyn police officer and the town from a Baldwyn man who claims he was beaten during a traffic stop last November.

Pictures of Joshua Grice show severe bruises and cuts the day after he claims he was beaten during a traffic stop by former Baldwyn Police Officer Greg Elder. In a civil lawsuit filed Monday against Elder and the city, Grice admits he turned his car around to avoid a roadblock because he had a suspended license. That’s when Elder pursued him and pulled him over a short time later.

Grice claims he was pulled from the car, slammed to the ground, handcuffed and kicked in the face. he adds Elder then slammed him into the car. The suit also claims the city knew Elder had prior allegations of excessive force but hired him and did ot train him on use of force.

Grice wants the city to pay all of his medical bills. lost wages because of his injuries and the maximumpunitive damages allowed by law.

Baldwyn Aldermen fired Elder about a month following the incident
