LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A drug related arrest leads law enforcement to thousands of dollars of stolen property.

Earlier this week, the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, along with the Lee County Sheriff Department, arrested 33-year-old, Brandon Smith, for possession of methamphetamine.

As authorities were searching his home, deputies and agents found a large amount of stolen property. Lee County Sheriff, Jim Johnson, says the investigation revealed that Smith was trading drugs for stolen property.

“I think he was just a known individual, drug dealer, that if you brought stolen property and wanted to swap it he knew he could turn a profit with it, it’s a sad situation this individual has gotten himself into, not only by taking this property from individuals but now he is in possession of numerous dollars of stolen property,” said Sheriff Jim Johnson.

Smith is being held on a $15,000  dollar bond.  Some of the stolen property is from a church in Itawamba County.  More arrests are possible.
