Video: Lee County Judge Removed From Office

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Mississippi Supreme Court removes a Lee County judge from office.

Former Justice Court Judge Rickey Thompson was also ordered to pay a fine and court costs totaling more than 11 thousand dollars.

In the order, justices say Thompson was publicly reprimanded for misconduct in 2008 and suspended for 30 in 2012.

The state Commission on Judicial Performance recommended Thompson’s removal, saying he improperly ran drug court, violated people’s right to an attorney of their choice, and used his office to promote a bail bondsman.

The order is effective immediately.
