NETTLETON, Miss. (WCBI) – A manhunt is underway in Lee County after a man was shot, just outside Nettleton on Tuesday.

Lee County deputies are looking for Cleveland Woody Oliver. He’s in his late 40’s.

Lee County Sheriff Jim Johnson says the unidentified 36 year-old male victim was at Oliver’s house earlier Tuesday on County Road 1361. He left and that’s when Oliver started sending threatening text messages to the victim.

Johnson says Oliver threatened to kill the victim and his young child.

The victim went back back to Oliver’s home and that’s when he was shot in the torso.

“We urge you that this is considered an individual that is of interest. He has not been charged as this release is being given to you. But I can tell you we are considering him armed and dangerous. We already know what potential threat he poses upon society,” said Johnson.

Oliver is a convicted felon.

Johnson says it’s unclear how many times the victim was hit. He was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center.
