LEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Lee County students started a new school year Wednesday. Plantersville Middle School teachers decorated their doors with a college theme. The goal is to get students thinking about life after high school.

Principal Rodney Spears says teachers and staff have been working for several weeks to make sure the school is ready. Even after 2 decades, he looks forward to every new school year.

“Being able to touch lives, I ‘m a pastor and it is part of my ministry to reach out to students and help them be the very best they can possibly be and help them to realize they have something to offer our society, they can all be very positive.”

There are nearly 300 students on the Plantersville campus.
