COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Several towns across North Mississippi will officially begin their holiday shopping season this month. Shoppers in Columbus got an early start on their Christmas shopping at open house events this past weekend.

Brittany Matani operates Rejuvenation Oxygen Bar and Tanning in the Brickerton Center. She says they are ready to offer shoppers the bargains they’re looking for.

“As far as Brickerton, all the shops here have all kinds of in-store discounts and wonderful things to offer. Especially for those people that are looking to shop early for Christmas and get that shopping done. A lot of people wait until the last minute,” says Matani.

Businesses in Columbus say they’ve gotten off to a good start this holiday season.

“We had a really good open house this year. We had a lot of good traffic, a lot of enthusiasm for downtown Columbus. I think people were just really glad to get out and start the Christmas season,” says Geraldine Coleman of The Purple Elephant in downtown Columbus.

The Christmas holiday season is the busiest shopping time of the year. Customers are always on the lookout for deals and new gift ideas. Matani says Rejevunation will have their most popular items as well as some new products this year.

“We’ve got some new lotions, hand made soaps and jewelry. All kinds of things,” says Matani.

“We are one of the leading sellers of Pandora Jewelry. For Christmas, we sell the Thymes fragrance. The Frasier Fur was a big seller this holiday. Of course, our Christmas decorations, ornaments and things like that,” says Coleman.

Open house events will also be held in Aberdeen, Calhoun City, Bruce and Louisville.

There are less than 50 shopping days left until Christmas.
