TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Resources can be hard to come by when preparing young children for the next level.

That’s why several head start and program directors across Northeast Mississippi spent their day learning about an all-in-one resource – the Mississippi Center for Education Innovation.

“It’s a new web base platform that we’re introducing statewide trying to make a one stop shop for child care providers to get resources on classroom materials business operations and other pieces,” says Angela Carson.

From lesson plans to fun activities, early child educators can use there tools to improve learning.

The site even offers a 20-30% discount for school supplies.

“With the discount of materials and supplies you always replenishing, always needing materials and supplies,” says Jennifer Calvert.

Business coordinator Angela Carson believes discounts for the classroom can allow teachers to focus more on children.

“Giving them more time to focus on the child. To focus on improving the equality so kind of taking some of the pressure off of those back end pieces that’s distracting them from the true work they’re about,” says Carson.

Daycare operators say the web base help cuts down on paper work.

“I spent a lot of time researching new forms or new ways of doing things. That was really exciting to me that we can go to one website instead of having to spend hours and hours searching different places,” says Christi LittleJohn.

Carson hopes early educators throughout Mississippi will walk away feeling supported.

“One, seeing that they got some help that somebody is here looking out realizing that they do so many things for so many people and hopefully this can come alongside and alleviate some of that,” says Carson.

The web is free for day care and head start centers in Mississippi.
