COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County Circuit Court Clerk Haley Salazar and circuit clerks are busy today. Today marks the first day of qualifying for local offices for the November 3rd general election. Most clerks were greeted early by incumbents and a few challengers getting their names in the hat early. Across the region, most incumbent supervisors and county-wide officials are expected to seek re-election although Salazar already has said she won’t seek a 7th term. The deadline to qualify is February 27th. The party primaries are the first week of August with the winners and Independents facing off in November.
