TUPELO, MISS. (WCBI) – Law enforcement authorities were rounding up people and taking them to a lockup at Tupelo’s Fairpark Grill.

Those who were rounded up were asked to call friends, co workers and family members and raise at least $800.

It is all part of the annual “MDA Lockup” which raises money to send children with muscular dystrophy to a summer camp in Kentucky.

The “jail” was a dining area of the Fairpark Grill, where participants could use their cell phones to call, text or email asking for donations.

At least one fundraiser has a personal connection to the issue.

“My brother actually was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy when he was four and so we, that’s kind of been an experience for our family. This is my first year hearing about this fundraiser so I wanted to participate in it and see what I could do to help the association,” said Madison Loden.

Madison’s brother is now 28.  If you would like more information on how to help MDA, go to www.mdalockup.orgtupelo2015
