COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A long-time Columbus pastor has passed away.
Mickey Dalrymple was the pastor of Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus for 27 years.

He died Wednesday after a 20-month battle with leukemia.

After retiring in 2011, Dalrymple continued to preach many revivals and speak at special event banquets.

He served two terms as president of the Mississippi Baptist Convention.

Dalrymple was loved by the community and his church family.

Friends and colleagues say his legacy and sense of humor will never be forgotten.

“You were going to be laughing when you were around him. He could turn any situation into a humorous situation. He saw the better side of it.I could not have asked for anyone to serve with that would be more admirable and more caring and loving than Mickey Dalrymple,” said his colleague Sammy Crawford, former associate pastor of Fairview Baptist Church.

Visitation will be Friday night from 6-8 p.m. and the memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday.
