LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) -Louisville ranks as one of Mississippi’s safest cities.

Research from safewise.com ranks Louisville as the 4th safest town in the state.

Thirty- three towns with a population of 5,000 or more were considered for the ranking.

Louisville Police Chief L. M. Claiborne says the good report is a partnership between his 22 officers and the community.

“I would contribute it to the citizens of Louisville, Mississippi because we all know from experience it is impossible for the police to do their job without the cooperation of the citizens and secondly, to a dedicated group of men and women that serve here at the Louisville Police Department.”
The report is based on the FBI’s most recent data for violent crime and property crime.

Amory makes the list as the 11th safest town. Starkville is number 12 and West Point is listed at 16 out of the 33 communities included in the study.
