COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – What would you do with 500 hundred million dollars?  Well some lucky lottery player may find out in Wednesday night’s Power Ball lottery drawing.

Lottery fever has taken over the country as the Power Ball lottery will climb upwards of 500 million dollars.  WCBI spoke to a few local folks near McAllister’s on Highway 45 about what they’d do with the money after becoming an instant millionaire.

“First of all, I’d pay off all my student loans.  Second, I work at Trinity Healthcare and I’d buy every single one of those residents a big Christmas gift,” says Jeanie Miller.

Cherry Williams says she would definitely travel. “I would go to Paris and take some of my friends. Yes,” says Williams.

There’s a 1 in 175 million chance of actually winning the Power Ball but that doesn’t stop people from dreaming about how they’d spend their millions.

“I’d get another Lexus, maybe a new house. Maybe come to McAllister’s more often,” says Martin Jue.

“I would buy everybody in my family a house. Pay for all the kids’ educations.  We have 5 kids.  I would have to get a new horse because you know I just love horses,” says Trish Murrell.

With Lottery fever at an all-time high, some say they just want to do something nice for their loved ones.

“I’d get my wife a brand new car and take her to Hawaii,” says Granville Wiggins.

“I have a lot of what I need.  I’ve got a great family and I’ve got a lot of love from my family.  So I probably would try to help them,” says Diane Langford.

No one has won Powerball in the last 16 drawings and now the excitement of becoming an instant multi-millionaire is sweeping the nation.

Powerball is played in 42 states across the nation.
