LOUISVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – The Louisville Police Department is looking to expand their enforcement capabilities by means of a multi-jurisdictional, automatic fingerprinting system.

Louisville Police Chief L.M. Claiborne said he applied for a $650,000 grant that would fund the project in July. The money would be split into $50,000 per jurisdiction to purchase and install the necessary equipment and software. Claiborne said the system would allow for more efficient communication between jurisdictions when attempting to identify or locate a criminal suspect, and that so far, Choctaw, Montgomery, Webster, Yazoo and other counties have expressed interest in the project.
