LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The republican primary runoff may not be until Tuesday, but the Lowndes County Circuit Clerk’s Office is already seeing a steady stream of absentee voters.

Individuals can vote absentee in person until noon tomorrow.

If you voted absentee by mail, the clerk has to receive your ballot by 5 p.m. Monday to be counted.

Officials say they have a good turnout so far, and they’ve been expecting it.

“We felt like that it might pick up a little bit, and we’ve actually voted more people absentee for the second primary than we did the first primary,” Lowndes County Circuit Clerk Mahala Salazar said.

Salazar says she hopes the crowds today mean they’ll also have a good turnout on Tuesday.

She says if you didn’t vote in the first primary you can vote in Tuesday’s runoff election.
