LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — The remaining disaster recovery center in Lowndes County will close tomorrow, but residents who had damage in the April storms can still get help from FEMA.

Representatives with the agency and the Small Business Administration (SBA) say people are beginning to get letters from FEMA, and in some cases, the response indicates they’re not eligible for assistance.

However, applicants should not stop the process there.

“There are a number of reasons your application could be deemed ineligible for assistance, including a missed appointment with an inspector, or failure to verify identity or primary residence,” Angela Class with SBA said.

FEMA can be reached at 1-800-621-3362.
