COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Lowndes County hopes to get its share of property tax money out of bankruptcy court. The county has voted to hire Columbus attorney Gawyn Mitchell to try to get a stay lifted in the Sanderson Plumbing bankruptcy. The order has blocked any payments to local governments since the company filed bankruptcy earlier this year. But it’s big money at stake. For Columbus, it means 72 thousand dollars. It’s 68 thousand for the county and another 188 thousand for city schools.
