Lowndes County, Miss. (WCBI) — The death of a Lowndes County woman who died in a Monday trailer house fire is being investigated as a homicide.

That’s after results of an autopsy determined that 46 year old Gwen Roberson may not have died from the fire at her Downs Road home. Family and friends say the victim was a loving person that wanted to keep to self. Roberson’s body was discovered in the kitchen area of her trailer. Friends who spent time with her did say that the victim was special and had certain limitations. A Lowndes County woman who did not want to be identified claims she is at a loss for words and wants to know why someone would want her killed.

“She was very friendly, a little too trusting sometimes. Because she road her bike from out by where she lived to visit people over here in town. Lot of times I would take her home,” said Unidentified Lowndes County Woman.

The state fire marshal’s office is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case. You are asked to call Columbus Crime Stoppers who is offering an additional $1,000 reward, at one 800-530-7151.
