Video: Macon Stabbing Death

MACON, Miss.(WCBI)–An altercation overnight at a local club in Macon leaves one man dead and another behind bars.

Yellow tape marks the spot of a brutal beating between two Macon men. Just before eight Monday night, Macon Police were called to the “Talk of The Town Club” on MLK Drive.

“Evidently a scuffle broke out. We are still trying to find out the why. We have one thats deceased,” said Sheriff Terry Grassaree/Noxubee County.

“Its Dennis Gavin, goes by the nickname of Beach. And right now this point and time the body is being get ready to transport to Jackson for an autopsy,” said Coroner R. L. Calhoun/Noxubee County.

“He recently hang up here on the weekends. He is not a week day person. I don’t know what made him came up here yesterday and just sit,” said Courtney Gavin/Victim’s Relative.

“And one went to the hospital in Jackson,” said Sheriff Grassaree.

After being treated at a Jackson hospital for serious facial injuries and other wounds, Tuesday morning suspect Johnny Bullet Slaughter is led by Noxubee County Sheriff Deputies to a jail cell.

“You know why those two men get so mad that it would evolve to this situation. And we’ll know that hopefully after while and then we can sort of put a label on it,” said Sheriff Terry Grassaree/Noxubee County.

“I don’t know about what, they were saying about some alcohol and it went from there,” said Courtney Gavin.

Calhoun knows both the victim and suspect.

“And its just hard to deal with it at this time. My prayers go out to both families,” said Coroner R. L. Calhoun.

“We need to stop all this black on black violence with each other and against each other. Life is too short,” said Courtney Gavin/Victim’s Relative.

Johnny Bullet Slaughter is a city worker, City Police requested that Noxubee County Sheriff’s Investigators handle the case.
