COLUMBUS, Miss.(WCBI)–Old man winter seems to be flexing his muscles and long before he throws a cold punch, drivers must prepare for the bitter assault.

That’s why the Mississippi Department of Transportation wants students at The W to know how to prepare and drive their vehicles in winter weather.

During a winter weather college tour MDOT representatives stationed in the lobby of the MUW cafeteria had information for students on how to keep safe as they prepare to drive in winter weather.

“Defensive driving as well as keeping certain things in your car so in case of emergency you are prepared for those situations. That’s things like first aid kit, extra blankets, jumper cables. Because you never know what kind of situation that you are going to face in the winter weather. And we always feel that it’s best to be prepared for those kind of emergencies,” said Courtney Harris/MDOT Communications.
